James Whisman, Jr.
Jim Whisman is self-employed providing investment and financial planning and advisory services. He founded his initial practice in 1973 with the objective of serving the tax, auditing, and bookkeeping needs of small businesses and individuals. In 2004 Jim changed his service model to providing investment, financial planning, and advisory services to individuals and trusts.*
He works with a highly experienced team to develop strategies and personalized solutions for each client’s unique situation. This is accomplished by:
- Asking questions and gathering information to understand goals and objectives.
- Developing sound strategies to match objectives.
- Implementing solutions customized to match goals and objectives.
- Providing timely ongoing service, to help ensure financial objectives are met.
Jim is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), and an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and several other professional organizations.
Over the course of his career, Jim has been involved as a volunteer with numerous professional, community, and civic organizations. He often is involved as a reenactor in historical programs in Old New Castle where he and his wife Barbara live. In addition, he is an educator crew member with the Kalmar Nyckel, Delaware’s Tall Ship, and volunteers with the First State National Historic Park Service providing historical and environmental education programs.
Jim enjoys being outdoors and is an active hiker and biker who often leads hikes for the Wilmington Trail Club.
